Do I need a Mail/Email Tune? Find out.

LS PROS is here to answer your frequently asked questions. One of the most popular questions asked is "Do I need a Mail/Email Tune?".

Don't fret this is why we are here, to clarify things up.

First, lets look at some basics of what a mail/email tune can consist of;

  • Calibration of Air Intake Flow Rate (MAF & Speed Density)
  • Accurate flowing parameters for Fuel Injectors
  • Ignition Tuning for strong spark and ideal ignition timing
  • Transmission, Gearing and Wheel Parameter Adjustments
  • Fuel Management for proper Air to Fuel Ratio
From bone stock to wildly built 1996-2018 GM cars and Trucks. 2019/2020 applicability varies by model. Forced Induction Tuning packages Engine Swap Tuning - Late Model and Classic vehicles Email Tuning and Diagnostics In-person tuning periodically at our frequent remote tuning locations.

    These are a few of many more parameters that are adjusted on a PCM (Also known as ECM or ECU). If you happen to change anything on your car that can affect any of these parameters you will need a mail/email tune. If you decided to put any modifications on your vehicle you affected the computer calculations that were set by the Dealer in this case GM. Examples of mods that require mail/email tunes;

    • Cam Swap
    • Higher Flowing Fuel Injectors
    • Cold Air Intake
    • Electric Fans
    • Headers
    • Intake Manifold
    • Forced Induction (Turbocharger, Supercharger, Procharger)
    • Power adders
    • Transmission swap (4L60 to 4L80, TH400,etc...)
    • Rear Gear Ratio
    • Catalytic Converter Delete
    • Fuel Type (87,89,93 octane, E50, E85, E98,)
    • PCM swap from a junkyard (P01 to 0411 or P59, E40, E38, E67)
    • LS SWAP

    These are some of many changes we see on GM vehicles whether it is a daily driver or a competitive drag racing truck.

    What happens if I decide to not get a mail/email tune?

    Well, to put it simply your vehicle won't run properly and in some cases cause some serious issues that include but are not limited to;

    • Horrible gas mileage
    • Issues on startup
    • Faster mechanical wear
    • Increased emissions
    • Lack of power
    • No start, no run
    • Inaccurate speedometer and dozens more!!
    We have seen many customers pour thousands of dollars on new blocks, heads, turbo kits, fuel injectors, converters, and in the end they decide to go cheap on the most important aspect... engine calibration.
