How does mail/email tune work?

In our previous article we covered the reasons why you might need a tune. If you found yourself in this page and you plan on getting a mail/email tune look no further.

The process is simple, but first lets decide what you will need.

Mail Order Tune -  If you don't have any power adders on your project (This includes turbocharged, supercharged, procharged, nitrous injection) then you will not required extensive scan & logs to get the vehicle running at peak performance. Mail Tunes usually pair with the following mods. 

  • Full Bolt-ons ( Cam, Headers, Springs, Lifters, Pushrods, CAI, Intake manifold, etc...)
  • LS Swaps (Usually required VATS delete for startup)
  • PCM Swap (Usually done to enable Flex or 3 Bar OS)
  • Higher flowing injectors 
  • Using E50, E85 or other fuels
  • Also if you are interested in building more power on your stock engine

Any of these qualify you to run with a Mail Order Tune. Now, for more complicated builds we will need to go with a Email Tune. Email Tunes will allow us to look at the data logged and incorporate our own special calibration for maximum performance. This usually takes 3-4 logs that you will need to perform with HP Tuners software and a MPV1, MPV2 scan cable.

Now, that you have decided what form of calibration you will need lets jump into the how.

Mail Order Tune

  1. It is best to have a properly running vehicle with no mechanical issues. If not this may slow the process on your side. You can always have us diagnose the issue quickly for a fee.
  2. You must complete the Tuning Fill-Out Form and email us at LSTUNEMAIL@GMAIL.COM to receive a price and confirmation. Click here for the tuning form.
  3. Next, remove the PCM or ECM from your vehicle and ship it out to us. Shipping information will be provided once your order is confirmed via email.
We will contact you if we need any further information on your vehicle. Please don't hesitate to shoot us a message if you have any questions/concerns.
Briefly, lets cover what is needed for a email tune.
Email Tune
  1. Like mentioned before it is important to have a properly running vehicle with no mechanical issues. If not this may slow the process on your side. You can always have us diagnose the issue quickly for a fee.
  2. You will need to purchase a scan cable from hp tuners that we can provide. You will need to download the HP Tuners software on your laptop and learn a few basic instructions for scanning & logging.
  3. Next you will learn how to pull a file from your PCM and email it to us. From here we take over and shoot you and email back that same day. 
  4. After you will scan and log as you drive your vehicle and email us the log this might require purchasing a wideband.

Once we have logged 3-4 times we should be done. This is usually a more expensive and complicated form of tuning.
